ABC International Development partners with media, civil society and government agencies, supporting them to collectively engage on issues affecting their communities.

 

We design and deliver communication initiatives to support our partners’ development objectives, with specialist staff in Australia, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Myanmar.

Current projects

  • The Pacific Forum
    The Pacific

    The Pacific Media Assistance Scheme (PACMAS) is a 10-year project running from 2008 to 2018. It supports better governance in the Pacific region by contributing to the development of a diverse, independent and professional Pacific media system.

    Cambodia

    The Cambodia Communication Assistance Project (CCAP) implements a Communication for Development approach, focussed on enhancing citizen voices and promoting a transparency and accountability of local authorities.

    Papua New Guinea

    The Media for Development Initiative (MDI) focuses on building, training and strengthening the team capacity of the National Broadcasting Corporation of Papua New Guinea, supporting outside broadcasts and remote area visits and generating research and content on the key areas of health, education, gender and governance.

    Burma

    Burma’s national broadcaster MRTV is transitioning from a state to a public service media role. ABC ID is supporting MRTV in this process by developing its capacity to produce radio content that informs, educates and engages women on issues about maternal health.

Past projects

Vanuatu radio program activity

Funded by the Australian government’s international development assistance agency, AusAID, ABC International Development supports the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation (VBTC) to develop and strengthen Radio Vanuatu’s role as the national radio service.
